mentorship by
older students

Establish a mentoring program pairing 25 mentor-mentee pairs through the school trip initiative. Additionally, hire and train 6–8 interns per year to assist with program implementation and outreach. We will provide stipends and professional development workshops for interns.

Partnerships include local schools and youth organizations to recruit mentors and interns. Design a training curriculum to support their success to develop leadership, communication, and facilitation skills among Bronx youth while creating a meaningful support network for children.

Reading Circles & Community Programs

Host community-driven programs, including reading circles, book clubs, poetry & spoken word, illustration, book writing workshops, mindfulness-movement-self-development workshops, parenting workshops, and educator meetups, to deepen connections among residents.

Conduct community events annually, ensuring recurring groups regularly utilize the space.

Book & Reserve Fridays for free enrichment programs organized by community members. All programs must align with Storyland’s mission and vision.

Donations

As the Bronx’s first interactive children’s book lounge, STORYLAND’s mission is to provide a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where children and families can connect while exploring literature and developing a lifelong love of reading.

Our goal is Sustainability.  Your donation will help with the following:

1. Allow us to stay present and serve our children for years to come.

2. Maintain our structured school visit program (Class Trip Featuring Independent Author) and expand on its frequency.

The Visit

Each student is welcomed to STORYLAND and then participates in a mindful movement exercise with a qualified facilitator. After a healthy snack, the students meet a featured author who shares their experience and book reading. Students then engage in a related group activity followed by a healthy lunch. Before departing, each student receives an autographed complimentary copy of the featured book to take home and an invitation to return to STORYLAND with their families.

3.Provide staffing opportunities and stipend for High School Students

4. Provide complimentary meeting space for Book Clubs, Community Organizations, Parent groups, Home Schools and Class Presentations
