Storyland is the first children's book lounge in the U.S. — a 4,500 sq ft space where Bronx kids discover the joy of reading. Anyone who comes to STORYLAND loves it! This is especially true for children, educators and parents. We are not a library. We are not book store. We provide a welcoming, comfortable space for children to stretch out both physically and educationally, discovering the joy of reading and dream building. Securing our lease is the only thing standing between us and closing our doors.
We need your help to stay right where we are. We have Class Trips already booked into 2027, but first we need to secure our home!
Why It Matters
Our children have some of the lowest literacy levels in the nation and we at STORYLAND: The Bronx Book Haven are working to turn things around. Every child leaves STORYLAND with their own complementary book to help them grow loving to read "One Dope Book At A Time."
Served over 2000 children through our Class Trips and Read and Rave Programs
Conducted the “All Girls Remarkable Women Program” where middle school girls shared reading and conversation with highly accomplished women in business.
Launched the HIP Hop series with author Pen Ken followed by meetings with Remarkable Men.
Launched “Bronx Reads” in partnership with CEI and the Bronx Borough President featuring a local author’s book “Luna Loves the Bronx” and multiple schools reading to children.
Most recently, secured funding for our new program “Write Your Story” which will guide young authors from idea to published book over nine months commencing in October 2026.
Conducted the inaugural “Tell Your Story” summer program with Emmy nominated spoken word artist and author, Trey Baker.
